November 27th, 2015 – Avian Friday: Do Dat
I finally got out to do a little bird photography again last weekend. This time at one of my old standby locations at the University of Washington’s Montlake Fill. It’s usually pretty quiet there this time of year, but there’s still several species of waterfowl about and the occasional raptors that seem to hang out there year round. I wanted to test out the little mirror-less full frame camera; the Sony A7, with my Canon telephoto lens which turned out to less than ideal. I was able to use manual focus to capture this shot of a Pie-billed Grebe and a few other birds, but it was not very easy without the dedicated auto-focus of my Canon DSLR.
