September 18th, 2015 – Avian Friday: Neighborhood Fella

This summer I noticed a couple of new bird that appear to have moved into the neighborhood.  A pair of Spotted Towhees  have made the area somewhere between both of my next door neighbors houses. I’m hoping they stick around for a season or two so I can get some bird photos without even having to leave my yard.  These guys are basically larger sparrows, but their coloration make them much more attractive. When I spotted this guy on top of my garage, I quickly grabbed my camera and fired off a few snaps while he hung around. Hopefully I might get lucky one of these days and capture a shot of one in flight.
