May 22, 2015 – Avian Friday – Hovercraft

Last week I’d hoped to get over to Hood Canal for the Bald Eagles as the low morning tides were ideal, but the light was crappy so I decided to wait. Another species that will be showing up soon are the Hummingbirds over at Redmond. I’m not sure what conditions will be like there this year, but there wil surely be a wealth of flowers there to attract them. Here’s a closeup view of one from a couple of seasons back. I’m looking forward to their return this year and the opportunity to share a few captures with you.

  1. Nice. Over the last couple years I have been working more and more on capturing hummingbirds and was getting close, but really took a leap forward when I got my Sony a6000 morrorless camera, the super fast autofocus and 11fps really helps.
