March 27th, 2015 – Avian Friday: Skagit SEO

Here’s another look at one of the Short-eared Owls I fortunate enough to get a look at couple weekends back. It’s always more challenging and rewarding to capture birds in flight, but I also like this one for the context and background the owl was set in. The image was taken from a vantage point on the side of the road inside my truck slightly above the field that the bird was flying over. The field was private property so even if I could have walked out for a closer position, I probably could have captured more of the bird but against a much less interesting background containing more of the sky.
