January 16th, 2015 – Avian Friday: Head for The Hills, The Peregrines are Coming!
I hope you all are having a great start to the new year. This week I figured I might as well continue with the shorebirds theme from the past couple of posts. I was looking back through some older files and quickly came across a few blast-off shots of these birds up in Washington’s Skagit Valley. These little Dunlins had come in off from Skagit Bay during high tide for a morning siesta which was rudely awakened by a pair of Peregrine Falcons intent on singling out one of the flock that showed the slightest sign of weakness or injury. The image was taken about this same time of year so I’m hoping I can get up to my favorite stomping grounds in the coming weeks to capture a few more shot like this one.
