June 20th, 2014 – Avian Friday: You Got Your Hooks in Me

So far this summer I’ve only managed a couple of trips across the pond to Hood Canal to capture Bald Eagle images. On the first the birds were there in good numbers, but the low tide occurred during the afternoon when bright sunlight was not helpful for making exposures with good color and detail. The second trip had poor early morning light and less bird activity, but I managed to get a few snaps worth presenting. This weekend has early AM tides again so hopefully I can make it back out there for another chance. Here’s a shot from my last trip, Unfortunately I didn’t get the entire sequence, but did catch the grab. Not a good situation for the sculpin. Must be pretty painful to be on the receiving end of those talons!
