January 10th, 2014 – Avian Friday: Black-necked Stilt
Going back in the time machine this week for an elegant bird in a special setting. This image of a Black-necked Stilt was taken at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, California. The late afternoon light is really beautiful at this place and vegetation on the surrounding hillsides reflects very nicely off the water’s surface to create some stunning backgrounds. One can also usually get right down close to the water’s edge for a more intimate perspective of the birds. Its been way too long since I’ve been back here. Looks like I need to mark a spot on the calendar in the upcoming months.
