August 9, 2013 – Avian Friday: GBH

People living in the Pacific Northwest are accustomed to seeing the Great Blue Herons. There seems to be an abundance of them here with all the wetlands and estuaries that provide them with a plentiful diet of fresh fish. During my recent trips over to Hood Canal to photograph Bald Eagles, there were also good numbers of Herons there feeding on the same Sculpins the Eagles were vying for. I took several action shots, but I just like the light and colors in this one so that’s what I’m sharing with you on the blog this week. Hope you enjoy it. Let me now what you think.
