August 31st, 2012 – Avian Friday: GBH

Looking back through some archive files for this weeks image since I haven’t been doing much bird photography lately. The Great Blue Heron is fairly common here in the Pacific Northwest. They are avid predators and learn to hunt for fish, small mammals and reptiles at a very young age. They’re often wary of people, but when they are preoccupied with hunting, you can usually get pretty close without spooking them.
