June 15th, 2012 – Avian Friday: Osprey

For my regular visitors and readers of this photo blog, my apologies for not keeping very active here, but a new position for work , school and preparing upcoming art show has taken up the majority of my time. I did manage to get out a couple of times earlier in the week. One of which included a visit to an Osprey nest that I located last year that now has a pair of birds actively nesting and preparing for a new  family.  The position of the nest is not the greatest  for photography, but it is accessible and allows a fairly close shooting distance tot he birds.  This shot is of the male who seems to be doing the hunting and gathering of twigs to add to the nest. The female is very stationary within the nest and I suspect that she is laying on the eggs. I’ll be keeping an eye on them for the next few weeks for any signs of chicks and sharing a few more images along the way.
