April 13th, 2011 – Avian Friday: Red-Winged Blackbird

Springs arrival in the Pacific Northwest brings lots of  bird activity and the Red-Wing Blackbirds are out in good numbers. While the males have a bit more striking color, the somber tones and textures seen in the females I find very attractive.  Here is an image of one foraging among the cat-tails at Seattle’s  Montlake Fill. 2. I never tire of seeing images of birds taken with crystal clarity and fine detail and creamy background. What a great shot… and I envy the lens.
