June 2nd, 2011 – Hawaiian Queen
One of the things about the Hawaiian Island that I find very intriguing is the abundant variety of plant life. I could spend days photographing just the flowers and plants in this part of the world. I think the “paradise” moniker often associated with Hawaii by in large, must come from the beauty of the landscape experienced there. This flower is named after Queen Emma, wife of Hawaiian King Kamehameha IV. She was known for her humanitarian efforts throughout the islands. She also was a nature lover and quite a beauty herself.
