May 31st, 2011 – Towards Mauka

I’m going back over my images from a trip we made to Maui last fall to see if there are a few I had not yet processed or posted. This one is from the tight twisty State Route 340 that runs along the Northeastern shore of West Maui. It shows up on the map at Kahekili Highway, but  the majority of it is pretty much just a one lane road. Travelling this road is a bit hairy due to the conditions, but the scenery it offers is well worth the effort in my opinion. This image was taken on the northern side of the Makamakaole Stream Valley. Haleakala and the Road to Hana are visible in the distance.
