February 21st, 2011 – Eastern Sky

Actually the sky pictured in this image is a western sky, but after processing it I was looking for a title and the tune Eastern Sky from one of my favorite jazz bands – Fourplay – seemed to capture the mood appropriately.
Alki Point marks the southernmost entrance to Seattle’s Elliott Bay. I was trying to incorporate the lighthouse into the backdrop of sunset scene over the water. The view from the north side while not particularly interesting, does coincide with suns azimuth at this time of the year and allowed me to frame the image (at least partially) as I had envisioned it.

View towards Blake Island from Alki Point. Seattle, Washington
