November 28th, 2010 – Solid Ground

Today’s image was taken while I was out shopping on “Black Friday”.  Last week I finally bit the bullet and started a home landscaping project  that I have contemplated for the past few years. I’m building a drystack stone retaining wall and matching new stairs in our front yard. The stone for our project will be delivered on Monday and I took a trip out to Marenakos Rock Center to take look at some landscape boulders I want to blend into the design. They have very impressive displays and a wide variety of all types of natural stone.Even though it’s going to be a ton of work, I’m really getting excited about this undertaking

The wall in this image had some very captivating stone and was positioned next to a charming Japanese Maple tree. I was trying to project a sense of the character, color and texture in the wall.
