Last Saturday I made a trek up to Fir Island (Skagit Valley, Washington) in hopes of capturing some bird images. We had a short break in the stormy fall weather and it seemed like a good opportunity to see what changes were made to the dike at Rawlins Road. To my surprise it actually looks like the dike removal along the beach may be an improvement to the ecosystem there, I guess time will tell. The good thing is that there is still access to the shoreline there and I look forward to the migration of the Short-eared owls there this winter. I didn’t see any that day, but here is one of my favorite shots from last season.
Thanks for stopping by,
