Hawaii 09 Day 2

We ate breakfast at the Plantation restaurant at the hotel this morning. Buffet that was not special, but pretty good none the less.  Following breakfast we started to head up to the Northshore and stopped at the Murokai Market to pick up some sunscreen and waters. This store is pretty cool, it has a huge variety of Asian goods including a sushi bar.

Next stop was Haleiwa where we did a little shopping and picked up some sun hats to help keep us cool. Sharon took this snap of me in the convertible.

We headed over to Laie for one of my favorite island foods: Oyster Sauce Poki from Tamara’s Market. This combined with a fresh plate of Kahuku shrimp makes an awesome lunch!

After lunch we drove over to Waimea Valley Audubon Center. It was getting late in the afternoon so we decided not to pay and go inside, but save it for another day when we had more time. I did take a few shots from the entrance grounds.

On the way back to Honolulu we had to stop again at the Dole Plantation for pineapple ice cream and of course a few more snapshots.

By the time we got back in town it was dinner time. I decided to turn Sharon on to the fine cuisine of the Side Street Inn.  Of course it was busy even on a Thursday evening and we had to wait at least a half hour for a table, but it is always worth it. On the menu (from L toR): Lop Chong fried rice, Ahi Futokaki, Lillikoi ribs!  Awesome food 🙂
